Pediatrics at Stamford Hospital
Developmentally, physically, emotionally and mentally, our children are growing and changing every day of their lives. That's why they need excellent preventive care, access to specialized experts when necessary, and the immediate attention of trained pediatric specialists in an emergency. At Stamford Hospital, our youngest patients receive extraordinarily skilled care.
Our pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists, neonatologists, lactation consultants, and medical specialists are all available for consultation and to work with parents who have concerns about their children.
Our pediatric physicians and nurses have trained at the country's top academic institutions, and are up-to-date on the latest medical advances. Our inpatient and outpatient facilities are equipped with advanced technology and designed for the comfort of the whole family.
We're the only hospital in our area with pediatric hospitalists on duty in the hospital around the clock. Our hospitalists are pediatricians whose sole responsibility is to care for infants and children in the hospital. They are on site and available to see children for late night emergencies and pediatric inpatient care. Whether for reassurance, answers to routine questions or to provide life-saving care in an emergency, our doctors and nurses are always here for you and your family.

Inpatient Care
It's scary—for the patient and parents—when a child has to be hospitalized. Your child's comfort and care are our top priorities.
We're sprucing up our pediatric floor. We encourage parents to stay with their children all night; and we're happy to provide accommodations to make you comfortable. Our staff of pediatric hospitalists, at least one of whom is always present in the hospital, work with your pediatrician to ensure that your child receives the consistent and specialized care he or she needs.

Emergency
If your child is seriously hurt, ill or exhibiting other worrisome symptoms, call 9-1-1 or go immediately to the Emergency Department at Stamford Hospital, where we have specially trained emergency medicine physicians on duty at all hours of the day and night who together with our pediatric hospitalists provide the specialized care infants and children need. Medically, kids are not little adults; pediatricians have been trained to focus on their unique physiological and emotional needs. In Stamford's Emergency Department, the entire emergency staff receives special training on treating children.
In less urgent situations—requiring immediate medical attention but where the illness or injury is not life-threatening—visit our Immediate Care Center (ICC), located at the Tully Health Center. Designed to provide quality care at times when your own physician is not available, the ICC is open 365 days a year. Appointments are never necessary.
Visit the ICC for treatment of: flu and cold symptoms; sprains, strains, cuts and bruises; sore throats, rashes, earaches, and other minor illnesses and injuries.
