Treatment of Vascular Disease at Stamford Hospital

Vascular surgery is the surgical treatment of vascular disease of the arterial and venous systems. The arteries and veins carry blood to (veins) and from (arteries) the heart and lungs through the chest and abdomen and to the extremities (arms and legs). Arterial disease is a condition in which blood clots, arteriosclerosis and other vascular conditions occur in the arteries. Venous disease involves problems that occur in the veins.

Vascular disease is usually caused by conditions that clog or weaken blood vessels, thus disrupting the healthy flow of the blood. A few common vascular diseases include peripheral vascular disease (PVD), carotid artery disease, varicose veins, phlebitis, deep venous thrombosis, blood clots and abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Surgeons at Southern Connecticut Vascular Center are trained in the latest vascular techniques and specialize in vascular and endovascular surgery, carotid stenting, angioplasty and minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins.

For more information, please contact Southern Connecticut Vascular Center at our Stamford office, (203) 425-2790.
